Produced by the Ester Rachel and Ida Kaminska Jewish Theater in Warsaw and directed by Agnieszka Lipiec-Wróblewska, the play 'Nie ma', whose premiere on the internet platform is scheduled for August this year to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the theater, is the starting point for further exploration of the Nike Prize awarded bestselling book by Mariusz Szczygieł. Coming out of the Internet, we enter the City. We check how the world of lack, the world of "nie ma" moves from the web to the streets, that are coming back to life after the pandemic. In what way culture that has gone online, urges the viewer to meet in person; what barriers and fears stand between the performance and the participant of the show and how the “nie ma” is externalized?
The phenomenon of Mariusz Szczygieł's book does not lie in the many awards, but in the fact that it triggers strong memories and even deeper questions. The performative space of the book and approaching the phenomenon of memory are key to our artistic search. This is the personal space of each of us / our memories and the acute lack of something that once has been / we had / existed.
